Hannah Scott in Concert

Reading St Mary's Church · Purley on Thames

Doors & Bar 7pm Music 8pm Back by popular demand, we are delighted that Hannah Scott will be returning to Village Concerts in October 2026! Hannah Scott performs contemporary folk music and is building a loyal following thanks to her distinctive voice, powerful melodies and thought-provoking lyrics which leave a lasting impression on her audiences. She draws much of the inspiration for her music from her affinity with Italy. A year living and working on an olive press in rural Tuscany in her late teens provided the backdrop to her early work, and the draw of the country and its influence have not faded with time. Following her well-received 2021 album “Drawn To Darkness”, Hannah has released “Ancient Lights”, an EP which is, as the title suggests, a collection of older songs she felt deserved to be dusted down and played to an audience once more. Two close family bereavements in the space of a year, as well as the period of quiet that the pandemic brought, set Hannah on a path of reflection as she rediscovered some of her oldest material. Ancient Lights takes its name from the house she grew up in, a Tudor building in Suffolk, named by her father because of its leaded light...

Hannah Scott live at Rosslyn Court

Rosslyn Court · Margate

Hannah Scott draws much of the inspiration for her music from her affinity with Italy. A year living and working on an olive press in rural Tuscany in her late teens provided the backdrop to her early work and she has found her musical home with creative partner, writer-producer and multi-instrumentalist Stefano Della Casa, who she met in London but may well have met years earlier when passing through the train station in Italy he was working in! When they began making music together, they realised they had an amazing connection, despite very different backgrounds: Stefano had a troubled early adult life, while Hannah was lucky to have a happy upbringing. Hannah has had her own difficulties following the diagnosis of Axial SpA, a form of arthritis which causes severe joint pain and fatigue. Both artists firmly believe that their musical collaboration has provided an outlet to support each other through difficult times. Their music has been heard in hit TV series, Grey’s Anatomy, and has been played regularly on the BBC with releases supported by Dermot O’Leary and Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2 and Tom Robinson on 6 Music. They’ve also been featured by MOJO, The Guardian and Clash...

The best stories elicit profound personal reactions and in the 15 years she has been writing and performing, Hannah Scott has become a consummate storyteller. Her music is shaped by human stories, with family, in all its chaos and glory, sitting at the heart of her work. Her lyrics are powerful and poignant, and her voice feels strangely familiar, though you can’t quite put your finger on why. Her writing may be deeply personal but her music has a universal appeal that extends beyond the melodies you catch yourself humming days after listening to her songs. The connection she builds with her audiences is most evident in the stories shared after her performances: the woman whose elderly mother lost a sibling in childhood and is moved to tears by Boy In The Frame; the young father who, upon hearing My Dad & I, realises he wants to spend more time with his small children; the adoptive parents who, like Hannah as a step-parent, may not have been the first person to hold their child, but Love You Like I Did. A deep-rooted desire for this connection has always been the driving force behind her songwriting and live performances. Born in Suffolk and raised by an artist mother and an ecce...
