Smote
Cowley Workers Social Club · Oxford
New show Oxford - we welcome the heavy, droning psychedelic and folk-drone project Smote to town on Fri 5th March at Cowley Workers Social Club. We caught them at Supernormal 2 years ago and were blown away! Once a solo endeavour by Daniel Foggin, now expanded to a fuller ensemble, Smote blends traditional instrumentation — creaking strings, funeral drums, somber winds — with thunderous synth work and desolate guitar to craft drone and dirge. Their latest album Songs from the Free House (Rocket Recordings 2025) confirms the band reputation as visionary seers building audial monuments by cranked amplification and atmospheric intensity alike. They have a new record coming out on the day of this show so it’s gonna be a celebration - come and get blown away with us! All ages and wheelchair accessible show now on sale!
