The Other Garden is the musical project of Katya Bungay-Hill. Originally from Oxfordshire, UK, Katya was raised on a hearty dose of folk, blues, and jazz, with names such as Simon & Garfunkel, Julie Fowlis, Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman, and Ella Fitzgerald impressing a lasting influence. Katya has loved singing ever since primary school, where her teachers poured time and care into teaching songs and harmonies to children of all ages. Having busked in the streets since her teenage years, Katya has learned to value spontaneity and humanity over perfection in her performances. For Katya, songwriting is a kind of therapy which pushes previously unprocessed feelings and emotions into the open. Playing her songs therefore leaves no room to hide and, ironically, nothing to perform.
