About this event

An evening with Trevor Babajack Steger at Cafe No9 is on Thursday 27 May 2027 at Cafe No9, Sheffield, with doors at 19:00. Tickets start at £16.50, including the booking fee.

Trevor Babajack Steger is an award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a string of accolades, chart-topping albums, and sold-out shows across the UK and Europe, including Italy, Poland, Spain, Portugal, France, and Germany. His music has been championed by Cerys Matthews on BBC Radio 2 and Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music, with airplay on countless stations worldwide. Trevor’s sound is impossible to pin down. At first glance, "Acoustic Blues" might seem fitting, but it barely scratches the surface. His raw, ferocious energy, growling vocals, and masterful musicianship—on harmonica, National guitar, lap steel, and more—create a sound that defies categorization. Some call it Punk Blues, Swamp, Power Acoustic, Raw Roots—but none quite capture it. Think Tom Waits meets Sonny Terry, with guitar chops that rival the best in blues, folk, Americana, and beyond. His music shifts effortlessly from haunting and atmospheric to gritty and foot-stomping, demanding to be experienced live. Critics and audiences alike have sung his praises. Blues in Britain hails him as "one of our finest and most original bluesmen." Blues Matters calls him a "master craftsman." His latest a...

An evening with Holly Carter at Cafe No9

Cafe No9 · Sheffield

'Holly Carter is an award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Bristol, UK. Two-time recipient of ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’ at the Americana UK awards (2023 & 2024) she is widely recognised as an exceptional fingerstyle guitarist and one of the UK’s only professional female pedal steel players. Drawing deeply from the well of the folk tradition, she harnesses an approach to song as a powerful tool for education and the preservation of legacy. Along with a showstopping approach to guitar that follows hot on the heels of the likes of Chet Atkins and John Fahey, her music weaves joyously catchy melodies with thought-provoking lyrics that pay homage to a diverse collection of musical and personal heroes. This show will be part of a run to mark five years since the release of Holly's debut EP 'All of You...and Me', which will be re-recorded and re-released to mark the occasion. It will also be a chance to sample some 'never heard before' songs that will feature on her second full length album (due for release in 2027) before they've even made it into the studio; a way to celebrate both old and new. Holly will be joined by Joe Wilkins on guitar for this intimate sh...

An evening with David Ford at Cafe No9 (2nd night added)

Cafe No9 · Sheffield

David Ford: Songbook Highlights and stories from 25 years of songwriting David Ford’s Songbook tour is a stripped-back, intimate evening built around 25 years of songwriting. Part live set, part storytelling, he revisits the songs that have shaped his career, sharing the moments and influences behind them along the way. It’s a relaxed, engaging show—just Ford, the songs, and the stories—moving easily between raw, powerful performances and quieter, more reflective moments, with plenty of warmth and humour throughout. The tour accompanies the release of a special career-spanning retrospective double vinyl, bringing together some of the standout songs from his catalogue. Featuring a mix of updated recordings and remastered originals, it’s Ford’s own selection of his most important work, compiled in one place for the first time—and the live show offers a chance to hear those songs as they were meant to be experienced, up close and in the moment. Don't miss it. ********************************************************************************** Please note this ticket price DOES include a BYOB fee should you wish to bring alcohol to the venue.
