A Different Thread

Green Note · London

Some things are just meant to be. Alicia Best (US) and Robert Jackson (UK) met while busking on the cobbled streets of Ireland and discovered both a musical and personal harmony that was serendipitous. In the decade since forming A Different Thread, Best and Jackson have taken their act on the road, touring over a dozen countries, supporting artists such as Milk Carton Kids and Jody Stephens (Big Star), and garnering critical praise from the likes of Folk Radio UK, which hailed the duo as “warm, deep songwriters that have drank from the well of 20th century tradition.” Their sound is transcontinental, blending Jackson's British folk rock background with Best's North Carolina-bred alt-country melodies. Informed by their life experiences (navigating visas, vanlife, love across oceans) and liberal commentary on both environmental and social justice topics. While inspired by artists like Gillian Welch, The Avett Brothers, and John Prine, A Different Thread maintain a distinct sound that is all their own.

James Dixon

Green Note · London

James Dixon an emerging UK folk & roots songwriter. He fuses the transatlantic folk-blues of the post-war revival with the powerful dirt of the grunge rock he was raised on. Chris Wood, John Martyn and Chris Cornell all echo in Dixon’s performance. Born and raised in Suffolk he moved to the southwest 20 years ago where he is a mainstay on the Cornish circuit. Seasick Steve invited James on the road for two extensive UK & European tours in 2022 and again in 2024. Support invites also include Chris Wood, Nick Hart, The Celtic Social Club, Maddog McCrae, Toby Lee, Ye Vagabonds, Steve Knightley, Hollie Cook and more. “genuine Troubadour straight out of the old school” - Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars) “the best support act I’ve ever had” - Seasick Steve “A Cornish Blake Mills” - Millman Guitars “...beautiful record....his guitar skills are top notch…” - Philip Henry (Edgelarks, Gigspanner)

Dom Glynn & His Sunday Best

Green Note · London

‘What do you get when you have an Englishman from Birmingham, UK, playing the sort of vintage two-steppin' tunes that country's founding fathers would be proud of? The unique and intriguing sound of Dom Glynn & His Sunday Best.’ – (Holler.) Putting in the hours - that’s how the greats crack the code. It’s a tried-and-true path, but one that demands total dedication and serious talent. Dom Glynn has both in spades. In his early twenties, this singing, guitar-slinging Brit was already living for and off music, playing endless sets of songs by his American heroes in music bars and venues in and around London. He’s since mastered the canon of classic country music and has been inspired to write his own future standards. Now, armed with those songs and his band His Sunday Best, in 2025 he’s been hitting the road for the first time, with a tour of The Netherlands and Germany in July and a UK tour in September. Now 28, Glynn already has several releases under his belt, and a new album is set to drop on August 22nd. His songwriting echoes the spirit of legends like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr., while his guitar work recalls the elegant fingerpicking of Mississippi John H...
