Sue Conroy at the Cutty Wren
Borough Park Bowling Club · Redcar
Described by Sean Cooney (The Young’uns) as a “committed and thoughtful songwriter who crafts her works with great care”, Sue Conroy emerged on the North East Folk and Acoustic scene to wide acclaim. Her varied repertoire of original songs have led to frequent comparisons with the politics of Billy Bragg, the passion of Grace Petrie and the humour and lyrical dexterity of Victoria Wood. Rock’n’Reel magazine’s columnist Robb Johnson named her as his tip for 2026. (Rock’n’Reel Jan/Feb 2026). As well as numerous bookings within the North East, including a sold out show in Durham, she has played at Folk Clubs and Festivals all over the country. Sue’s impressive and prolific songwriting, distinctive voice and accomplished guitar-playing, and strong stagecraft have earned her a warm response and a growing following. Known for writing catchy sing-along choruses, her act incorporates feisty protest songs, humorous ditties and dreamy, lyrical ballads capturing her love of the outdoors.
