Glenn Jones / Liam Grant / Sam Grassie

Bishops' House · Sheffield

Glenn Jones: “First known for his emphatic career with the genre-defying rock group ‘Cul De Sac,’ a band that you forgot played more times with Damo Suzuki than Can did, Glenn Jones has gone on to become one of the foremost American Primitive guitarists of the early 21st century. His life long tenure to the underground has gifted us dear reader with 10 widely acclaimed solo LPs and his approach to fingerstyle remains uniquely idiosyncratic. Over the course of two and a half decades as a solo artist Jones’ has established and continued to innovate a deeply personal melodic grammar for the acoustic guitar and banjo that is witty, cleverly self-referential and tethered to the weight of reflection and memory. Sketches of Fahey, a close friendship with the late John Jackson of Fairfax Virginia, a maiden voyage to visit 78rpm gugu Joe Bussard alongside one Jack Rose; devotion to his mother, the ever lovely Nora Smith with her leather jacket, and his cats. The portraiture of days gone by, sentiment for those close and fondly remembered. Ever fleeting. Ever sublime. Here is a vital messenger of the steel string guitar who we can celebrate in his time - here and now.” — Man Trag...

SAM MOSS Sam Moss is a musician based in Staunton, Virginia. His newest album, Swimming (2025), has been acclaimed by publications like Spin, Uncut, Bandcamp, and Aquarium Drunkard. He has played hundreds of shows around the country, supporting artists like Watchhouse, Jake Xerxes Fussell, and Joan Shelley. He is also a woodworker. “Swimming foregrounds his graceful guitar playing, his quietly intense vocals, and most of all his observant songwriting, all of which reveal new wisdom with each spin.” - SPIN "Sublime... the results are so intimate and tactile that you might just feel them slip through your fingers." - Bandcamp "Ten songs to be discovered, savored, and rediscovered" - Pop Matters “Each song breathes marvelously, matching the searching, restless nature of Moss’s lyrics perfectly.” - Aquarium Drunkard “To listen to Swimming, the new album by Sam Moss, is to be confronted by beautiful contradictions. Moss and his ensemble spin a gossamer web of instrumentation around Moss’ earthy voice, at once hopeful and a deliverer of weary wisdom.” - No Depression THE GREATEST ENDANGERED THING The Greatest Endangered Thing is a British-American indie folk band. A Nite Hive label night featuring Jo Montgomerie, Agnes Haus and Pefkin

Bishops' House · Sheffield

Jo Montgomerie is a producer, sound engineer & music teacher based in Greater Manchester. Originally from South West Scotland, Montgomerie’s work uses repetition, drones and manipulation. Playing with piano, electronics and field recordings, Jo explores themes of feelings & connection through spaces & time. ‘made to appear’ is about all of the emotions. Love & loss, fear & joy, but it’s also about all those tiny emotions in between - the ones that don’t last, but you still feel. It’s about the space between extraordinary & everyday. The transition from one to another - it can be a split second. This work moves away from the compositional style Jo had been using recently. It’s less extreme, less ‘noisy’, but with more clarity. The recordings are more deliberate, and the piano is the lead. Agnes Haus is a UK-based non-binary audio-visual artist and composer creating murky, fractured aural landscapes revolving around semi-autonomous explorations made entirely with modular synthesisers. In 2023 and 2024, respectively, their first two albums, "Sequel' and ‘Everything Is Resurrection’ were released on the renowned cassette label Opal Tapes, and praised for their ble...

Zach Rowden (Tongue Depressor) with support from Heavy Lifting

Bishops' House · Sheffield

Zach Rowden is a musician based in New Haven, Connecticut. His work is focused in the areas of drone, repetitive structures and noise. Collaborators and projects include - Tongue Depressor, Hyperion Ensemble/Iancu Dumitrescu, Windscour, Red Yellow Blue Green Black, Leila Bordreuil, Aki Onda, Arien Wilkerson, and Paul Flaherty. Touring to support his new album "Time Unstated, Hues Unseen". A tape loop repeating, posing mundane questions to the listener: "Am I different because you are different from one moment to the next; or, am I different because I am different from myself from one moment to the next?" It is hard to tell. The ebb and flow of difference and repetition always produces a psychedelic interrogation. Where were you when you first heard me? Who were you when you first heard me? Are you still there? Are you still the same person? Breathing in and out is sort of similar. Something we do continuously as a matter of survival. One breath is not so different from the next, but each breath is also a seemingly singular event, a repetition bleeding into its own repetition. Is listening any different? One sound bleeding into the next, as if beginnings and endings fail to matter....
