Joachim Cooder (USA) and Adriano Viterbini (Italy)

Civic Theatre · Gosforth

Joachim Cooder is one-of-a-kind. He plays a variety of instruments, writes songs that seem to come from a slightly different universe and is unforgettable once seen and heard. One of Cooder’s true calling cards is how his music can float in air. What the man can do is a blend of percussion, strings, vocals, and other wonders without names into a breathing animal all its own. Joachim Cooder grew up surrounded by music alongside his father, legendary guitarist Ry Cooder who took him on the road at an early age on the drums, playing both live and in the studio. These touring and recording projects allowed him to share stages and recordings with Johnny Cash, Ali Farka Touré, Steve Earle, John Lee Hooker, Dr. John, Mavis Staples, and most notably the award- winning project The Buena Vista Social Club which has sold more than eight million copies worldwide. He is joined by Italian guitarist and composer Adriano Viterbini, whose credits include Jovanotti, Bombino, and JET, and most recently with Joachim, performing together as a duo throughout Europe. “A joyous mix of African kalimba and traditional country blues melodies.” – The SUNDAY TIMES – Seven quietly exotic songs flowin...

Jim White (USA)

Civic Theatre · Gosforth

im White Quote from Jim – “Musician first, writer second, visual artist third. Discovered by David Byrne, championed by many. Father to country music star Willow Avalon.” Jim White …….Gets around. When he’s not releasing his own critically acclaimed solo albums he splits time producing records for other songwriters, exhibiting his visual art in galleries and museums across the US and Europe and publishing award winning fiction. White (born Mike Pratt) has released seven eclectic, totally uncategorizable albums plus another six even stranger side projects.Known for his intricately layered, highly cinematic production values, numerous songs from White’s back catalog have appeared both in film and television. His Primus-esque Word-Mule was featured in the pivotal Heisenger episode of Breaking Bad, and more recently his song Static on the Radio, a duet with Aimee Mann, landed in the closing credits of the feature film El Camino.UK fans may recognize White as the narrator and defacto tour guide for the award winning BBC documentary, Searching for the Wrong Eyed Jesus, a road movie set in the rural South, which the LA Times described as “Decidedly strange, delightfully de...
