Isaac Neilson

The Pioneer Club · St Albans

Isaac Neilson is the indie artist currently undertaking an ambitious challenge to play a gig every day throughout 2026, but is also on track to perform over 400 shows in a year. Documenting the journey on social media while releasing new music every 10 weeks. Supported by Radio X, BBC Radio 2, and BBC Introducing. “Follow Me” is Isaac Neilson’s reflection on doing the Gig A Day challenge. It’s a dark and self-aware commentary on the obsessive and the strange contradiction of living your life publicly through social media just to get noticed. On the surface, he is doing it for attention. But underneath, he is questioning whether a working-class artist can still make it in 2026. Should someone have to put themselves through such an exhausting experiment just to get noticed? The song captures the nihilism, frustration, fixation and response to the challenge. There are shades of optimism in bleakness. When Isaac began, he had 100 monthly listeners, the inability to sell tickets, and nothing to lose. What most people are now calling “luck” is him “hitting his stride”. “Follow Me” shows by not listening to detractors, by not following the crowd, “trying anything twi...

Dave Rowntree - No-One You Know

The Pioneer Club · St Albans

Dave Rowntree was a member of Blur before they were Blur, joining up as drummer with singer Damon Albarn and guitarist Graham Coxon when they were in various bands in Colchester in the late 1980s. After Alex James stepped in as bassist, Blur went on to become one of the most innovative and successful UK bands of all time: both creating Britpop and then moving up and on from it in a way that no other band has achieved. The band’s exceptional creative musical talent, their unique ability to create art-rock anthems as well as solid pop bangers, has won them devoted fans across the world, and in 2023, after a hiatus, they sold out Wembley Stadium twice over. Blur have released nine studio albums, won five BRIT Awards, and sold 70 million across the world. Aside from his career with Blur, Dave has also been hugely successful in other fields. His computer animation company Nanomation created influential work for MTV and Channel 4. In the mid-2000s, he trained to be a solicitor, and worked for Kingsley Napley. He has been a Labour candidate and county councillor and is active in the Labour Party. His life-long interest in space led to him being heavily involved in the Beagle 2 Mars miss...
