About this event

DOUBLE-HEADER: ELIZA DELF & THE WILDERNESS and NICK LAWRENCE is on Friday 19 February 2027 at Memorial Hall, Otford, with doors at 19:00. Tickets start at £8.80, including the booking fee.

ELIZA DELF & THE WILDERNESS are musical free spirits but what really sets them apart is their genre-defying musical alchemy, drawing on the untamed energy of alt-indie, the dark textures of gothic folk noir, and the imaginative flair of progressive art rock. Their live performances are described as mesmerising, wildly dramatic, and hauntingly beautiful. Front and centre is Eliza Delf: a vocalist with a tone all her own, haunting, warm, and utterly commanding. Her voice is trained yet instinctive, full of stories and soul. She’s backed by a band every bit as impressive. The chemistry is palpable—these aren’t just great musicians, they’re true collaborators, elevating every arrangement and making each song shimmer with personality. This is a band that is determinedly non-conformist, confidently following their own musical path and the result is magical. The wilderness beckons… NICK LAWRENCE is a singer-songwriter from Folkestone who has been performing to audiences around the south-east of England for over 15 years, in addition to having spent a couple of years entertaining folk around the Greater Toronto area in Canada. Having grown up listening to traditional folk music o...

DOUBLE-HEADER: LINDA MOYLAN BAND and WICKENWOOD

Memorial Hall · Otford

LINDA MOYLAN is an Irish born, London raised folk singer-songwriter with a voice that can spiral from earthy to angelic in an instant and delivers the moving and relatable narratives of her songs with an enchanting Irish troubadour twist. Her voice switches effortlessly between the sultry, the bluesy, the smoky and the unbelievably sweet – sometimes during the same song. Linda’s third album, ‘The Fool’, released in 2024, is a definitive, mature and self-assured piece of work that completes Linda’s transition from gifted singer to fully-fledged and unique musical artist. On the live stage, Linda and her band, guitarist Ian Montague and fiddle player Rebecca Mileham, are simply immaculate, providing a rich and atmospheric journey that sees them delivering stunning tunes that demonstrate Linda’s power both as a writer and performer. With a warm, humorous, charismatic stage presence Linda and her band will sweep you up, take you along for the ride and deliver you gently back to earth, fully satisfied, at the conclusion. WICKENWOOD are an indie-folk trio hailing from Hemel Hempstead, not that you’d know that from their songwriting: Their passion for history and folklore ta...

THE OUTCAST BAND

Memorial Hall · Otford

Raw emotion is the proud currency of this six-piece indie folk-rock outfit from Stroud. Gutsy vocals driven by hard guitars, mandolin, violin, accordion and drums suggest echoes of the legendary folk-rock greats, yet boast a uniqueness that made them a rousing festival favourite with an army of fans. Now, after more than fifteen years below deck, The Outcast Band return with Anchors, Mermaids & Sails, a powerful indie-folk-rock album shaped by time, tide, and distance. Blending raw energy with intimate, reflective moments, it explores love, loss, disillusionment and hope, resulting in a long-awaited fourth album that is both atmospheric and deeply resonant. On stage, The Outcast Band bring a live performance like no other. Their influences, from folk, punk and rock are apparent, but they have created a distinctive sound which has earned them a reputation for giving what many have described as the best live music experience of their lives. PAINTED SKY

Memorial Hall · Otford

Painted Sky have only recently emerged onto the UK folk scene, but they have already made a lasting impression with their progressive acoustic sound. Siblings George Brandon (guitar/vocal) and Holly Brandon (fiddle/vocal) have been making music together for as long as they can remember. Both have worked on independent projects, with George performing solo and Holly, perhaps best known as part of transatlantic folk band, The Magpies. But the siblings have always been drawn back to each other’s playing; tight-knit instrumentals and harmonies reflect the bedrock of their lifelong musical history. Original material thoughtfully balances the duo’s roots in traditional English music. Their songs are characterised by honest vocals and timeless storytelling, underpinned by driving rhythms. Whilst their exquisite instrumentals weave delicate finger-picking guitar and soaring fiddle with a dynamic energy. They seamlessly blend tunes from further afield too, from the complex rhythms of Eastern Europe to the stomping fiddle tunes of Quebec, to create a distinct and borderless synthesis of contemporary folk.
