BBC Folk Award winners for Best Duo, Edgelarks, began their musical journey living in a caravan in Devon, UK. Phillip Henry had not long returned from India, where he studied slide guitar under the master Debashish Bhattacharya. Hannah Martin grew up playing and singing in Devonian folk sessions, and met Phillip on his return. The pair had an instant musical connection, and began playing wherever they could. They were busking around the highways and byways of these islands, and were soon spotted by Steve Knightley of Show of Hands, who offered them a prestigious support tour. Fifteen years and seven albums later, the pair have travelled from Australia to South Africa, Canada to Japan with their music. They have twice joined Show of Hands for performances at the Royal Albert Hall. They have collaborated with some of the top names in British folk, including The Gigspanner Big Band, a project with Peter Knight (Steeleye Span) and John Spiers (Bellowhead). In 2018 they formed part of the “folk supergroup” that played BBC Radio Two’s Festival in a Day at Hyde Park, to a crowd of 50,000 – supporting Kylie Minogue and the Manic Street Preachers! Martin's soulful voice and songwrit...

Harbottle & Jonas, with Richard Trethewey and the Wild Goose Choir

Arts Centre · Ashburton

Having made their home on Dartmoor, Dave Harbottle and Freya Jonas have spent the past few years gathering songs, stories, melodies and fragments from the landscape around them. Inspired by ancient tors, wooded valleys, rivers, churches and the people and stories of Devon, From The Moor To The Sea brings traditional material into conversation with new songs reflecting their own experience of putting down roots and raising a family here. The album’s title was inspired by the extraordinary journey of the wild salmon, travelling downstream from the moor to the sea before eventually finding its way home again. That image of landscape, journey and return runs through the heart of the record. For this special launch concert, Harbottle & Jonas will be joined by Cornish fiddle player and Bard Richard Trethewey, alongside Freya’s Wild Goose Choir, bringing to life the voices, harmonies and community that have become part of the album itself. An evening of old songs, new songs and stories rooted in the place Harbottle & Jonas now call home. From the moor, to the sea, and home again. HDIF Family Disco - All-Ages Daytime Indie Club

The Phoenix Club · London

We've held the HDIF Children's disco at the End Of The Road festival since 2011, and they've been lots and lots of fun. We play our usual mixture of indie pop and soul, and the discos are a wonderful opportunity for kids to bop around to Belle & Sebastian, Allo Darlin', Ramones, Pixies and more, and for their parents to bop along with them. It can often be hard to get out to club nights once you become a parent, so these discos are as much a chance for the parents to go out dancing as they are for the kids. We also want to provide an alternative to the many rave-themed kids discos that are on offer in London. If you'd rather dance to your favourite indie pop and Motown songs with your children, then we're the disco for you! Music will be played at a reasonable level. We'll make sure that the songs aren't played too loud, but if you're worried about volume please do bring along ear defenders for your kids. Everyone is welcome at our kids discos - children, parents and family friends - but we follow similar rules to Coram's Fields - so no admission for adults unless they are accompanied by a child. About The Phoenix: The venue is a wonderful basement bar with a wooden dancefloor. Ent...
