The duo of George Sansome & Matt Quinn is an exciting collaboration between two leading lights of their generation of traditional singers. Their well-blended voices and close harmonies create a warm, enthralling sound, and their English folk instrumental styles complement each other perfectly. Their debut album, Sheffield Park, was released in 2023. George will be familiar as one-third of Granny’s Attic. He has a passion for storytelling and a gift for tapping into the human experience; a singer who gets right to the roots of what traditional music is all about. Refreshingly open, expressive and engaging, his performances place a spotlight on human stories, with masterful guitar arrangements that showcase impressive skills while giving the songs themselves the space to shine. Matt, who also performs in the Dovetail Trio with Rosie Hood and Jamie Roberts, is renowned for his traditional singing as well as his skills on the melodeon, concertina and mandolin. Originally from Brighton and now residing outside Sheffield, Matt has performed both on the UK folk scene and further afield, from small folk clubs to Glastonbury and WOMAD and appearances in the Netherlands and Iceland. Johnny Campbell

Cabbage Patch Pub · Twickenham

Johnny Campbell's work delves deep into folk song and story. His 2020 album, From Hull & Halifax & Hell (2020) took him to the Faroe Islands, where he recorded a live album on the island of Nolsoy. Since musical instruments hadn't arrived on the islands until the 19th century, this was perhaps the first time English traditional songs had been recorded on the islands. The album earned him album of the week with blues and roots radio and reviews with British folk press. Since March 2020, Campbell hasn't relented, releasing three singles, "Hard Times Of Old England", "Winter Hill Trespass" and "A Right to Roam". The former receiving play on Ian Lynch's (Lankum) Fire Draw Near podcast, while "Winter Hill Trespass" gained national press in Country Walking Magazine and The Guardian. "A Right to Roam" (2022) is a collaboration with Commoners Choir and Skelmanthorpe Brass Band and received the accolade of One of the Best Folk Songs of 2022 chosen by Tradfolk. 2024 saw Campbell release True North, an album of Northern English traditional songs recorded on their respective county summits, garnering press from Country Walking Magazine, Folk on Foot and BBC Radio 4 Open Country. Terra Spencer

Green Note · London

Bad ideas, VCRs, crumbling factories, hairy dogs, questionable tattoos…all are fair game for funeral director-turned-songwriter (and newly-minted 2026 Canadian Folk Music English Songwriter of the Year) Terra Spencer. And the songs are good ones, judging from the accolades her four albums have received, and the caliber of collaborators like Matt Andersen, Dave Gunning, and David Francey, who welcomed Terra as a co-writer and performer on his JUNO-winning album ‘The Breath Between’. Cinematic storytelling is a hallmark of many great Canadian folk songwriters, but in Terra’s case, it is charged with the wood-paneled ’70s warmth of Elton John, Karen Carpenter, and Jackson Browne. As a fun-loving and fearless solo performer, Terra has played some of Canada’s most renowned festival stages, including Mariposa, Stan Rogers Folk Festival, and Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, where her Maritime waltz “Lunenburg Moon” has become an unofficial anthem. Think Steve Poltz and Carole King’s East Coast cousin. Terra grew up as an only child on the banks of the Avon River with the world’s highest tides, surrounded by country music. As a shy teen, she took refuge in her grandpare...
