Dan O’Farrell & the Difference Engine

Water Rats · London

Dan O’Farrell & the Difference Engine - former Accrington Stanley frontman Dan now fronts this marvellous alt-folk/country/indie combo from Southampton who have just released their fourth album - 'The Fish That Learned To Drown' on Gare Du Nord Records, which has had some glowing reviews and is picking up some BBC 6music radio spins. Oh, and Well, All Right!... a certain well known consumer rights TV presenter also performs in this band. Pedal steel guitar is always a joy to see/hear, and is just one of the tools of their trade...it's not Esther Rantzen by the way. (Sorry this was originally written before the woman obsessed with root vegetables that look a bit like willies sadly passed) Sadly Lovely Lightning have had to depart the bill due to ill health. We wish the ailing bassist well. But fear ye not, Matt Allright’s OTHER band, the aptly handled Band Of Hope have stepped up to kick the evening off. The Targets - bluesy grooves and punky pop songs, for fans of the Feelgoods and the Hot Rods.

The RnB Collective - Live

Boisdale of Canary Wharf · London

Table reservations from 6pm | Live Music: 8.30pm “A phenomenal tribute to the golden era of R&B. An outstanding show.” - Steve Hallum, Jump Events Back by popular demand There is a very specific kind of R&B that still owns a room: the bassline is deep, the harmonies are clean and the chorus arrives like everyone has been waiting for it. The RnB Collective brings that feeling back to Boisdale with a live set built around the 90s and 00s records people still know by heart. This is the era of slow jams, silk-smooth hooks and songs that moved between bedroom soul and dancefloor confidence without missing a step. Expect classics inspired by TLC, Usher, Blackstreet, Donell Jones and Ne-Yo, reworked with polished vocals, tight groove, rich harmonies and soulful solos. With musicians connected to the acclaimed RnB Orchestra, the show has the weight of players who understand the material from the inside: how to let a slow jam breathe, when to sit back in the pocket and when to bring the room up. It is nostalgia, yes, but not museum-piece nostalgia. These songs still move. Set in Boisdale’s intimate live music room, The RnB Collective is made for groups, celebrations, date nights and a...
