Nick the programmer says... I have never written an event description in the first person before, but I saw La Déferlance twice at the Celtic Connections festival last year and found them absolutely thrilling. Getting them to Masham has been my main objective for 2027! Please come along and enjoy their Québecois trad brilliance with driving rhythms, step-dancing, and exuberant energy. From Quebec, the award-winning La Déferlance brings an exhilarating blend of traditional music and contemporary creativity to Masham. Featuring fiddle, accordion, piano, bass and foot percussion, the band combines dance tunes, intricate musicianship and infectious energy with influences drawn from Québec’s rich folk heritage, alongside jazz and classical traditions. Expect soaring melodies, rhythmic step dance and vibrant ensemble playing that capture both the warmth of community gatherings and the excitement of modern folk performance. Touring their acclaimed album Âmes des Bois, La Déferlance has earned a reputation for captivating audiences through dynamic live shows that honour tradition while embracing new ideas.
