About this event

Lost Horizons Presents Rob Corcoran and the Necessary Evils. is on Friday 30 October 2026 at Upstairs @ The Leyton Star, London, with doors at 19:30. Tickets start at £8.80, including the booking fee.

Dublin troubadour Rob Corcoran is a much respected figure on the London roots scene, with folk legend Christy Moore including his version of Corcoran’s brilliant ‘Ringing That Bell’ as a key song in his current touring set. Rob’s lyrically compelling, beautifully observed songs are drenched in Celtic soul, drawing from the same deep wells that serve Van Morrison and Mike Scott so well. Present too is a strong thread of influence from the heart-on-sleeve poetry of John Prine, Hank Williams and Leonard Cohen. He has supported legendary Irish roots artist Mary Coughlan in the UK, and continues to hone his craft both solo and with full band around the best folk venues of Britain and Ireland. “This man can surely sing, and he has a great band behind him. He says some things that need to be said” Christy Moore “I implore you check him out, don’t let me down… this guy is special.” Americana UK 9/10 “From the moment he steps on stage, Corcoran perspires authenticity in that fluent way that a hundred record execs have tried and failed to manufacture”. DJ Nights: Mi-Soul Radio Fridays

Boisdale of Canary Wharf · London

Dinner & Table Reservations from 5pm. DJs from 7pm-2am Boisdale has Jools Holland as Patron of Music, a live programme that runs seven nights a week and a NEXO sound system installed because the music demands it. Mi-Soul Radio has Gordon Mac MBE, Kiss FM in its DNA and thirty years of soul, house and R&B running through everything it does. On Friday nights the two come together on the first floor and the result is exactly what you would hope for. The selectors rotate through the Mi-Soul roster each week, which keeps the sets fresh without ever dropping the standard. Deep soulful house one Friday, classic R&B the next, but always played by someone who has a genuine relationship with the music rather than a playlist and a laptop. Start on the heated terrace with a cocktail overlooking Cabot Square, move inside when the night builds and let the sound system do the rest. First Floor Bar & Heated Garden Terrace Nestled in Cabot Square and overlooking the fountain with the Canary Wharf skyline beyond, the first floor bar and heated garden terrace is a destination in its own right. Fine wines, premium spirits and expertly crafted cocktails, with a selection that covers everything from rar...
