On Saturday 20th March the Man of the World: The Music of Peter Green show returns to Joe Joe Jims to celebrate the life and music of Peter Green, founder of the original Fleetwood Mac, who was not only one of the guitar-playing greats of 1960s blues-rock, but also a gifted songwriter. The band is lead by guitarist Remi Harris who will be joined by vocalist Dave Small, bassist Tom Moore and Shane Dixon on drums to perform music from throughout Peter Green's career including such classics as Man Of The World, Black Magic Woman, Need Your Love So Bad, Albatross and The Green Manalishi (With The Two Prong Crown). A recent gig review by Lichfield Live stated that "this was a band that brought vivid life to the songs and instrumentals written and performed by Peter Green... The songs were treated with proper respect, but each of the musicians played things with taste and accuracy" ... sounds like a perfect evening to us! On Friday 6th November we are pleased to welcome back to Joe Joe Jims the excellent Maz Mitrenko Band. For blues-rock aficionados, Maz Mitrenko will need no introduction - but for the uninitiated, after many years working alongside the legendary Trevor Burton, guitarist/vocalist Maz formed The Maz Mitrenko Band in 2006 and they have gone from strength-to-strength, providing "a mixture of finely honed original songs alongside a range of classic blues and rock covers from the likes of Rory Gallagher and Jimi Hendrix". The Band - also featuring bassist Pete Vickers (Tony McPhee, Andy Hart) and drummer Phil Brittle (The Band Of Joy, Quill) - has played hundreds of shows at venues and festivals all over the UK as well as two tours of the southern USA and are definitely not to be missed!
