Making a return to the Northwich to play the iconic Salty Dog - Peter Bruntnell - last years gig at The Salty Dog sold out with a few weeks to go - and with a good number of folks already quizzing me over tkts it looks like 2027 will be no different... Rolling Stone once declared Peter Bruntnell to be, “one of England's best kept musical secrets”. England has successfully managed to keep Peter Bruntnell a secret for all this time, even from itself. “Maybe this will be the album to finally give him the worldwide superstar recognition he deserves!”, enthused every other album review from the last 20+ years, with an admirably unwavering optimism. “If we lived in a just world, Peter Bruntnell would by now be in the middle of his third or fourth global arena tour,” said a feature in The Guardian in 2016. Needless to say, we don’t live in a just world. Peter’s new album Houdini And The Sucker Punch garnered all the predictably pleasing praise of previous albums, going on to feature in a number of end of year lists, including being voted Americana UK’s No.1 Album of The Year and a Mojo Magazine Top 5 Americana Album of 2024. An evening with Django Chutney at Cafe No9

Cafe No9 · Sheffield

Django Chutney have been described as a virtuosic gypsy-jazz ‘manouche et trois’, with equal parts due respect for the genre, unruly chaotic energy, and a huge dose of tongue-in-cheek humour. Combining tightly woven three part vocal harmonies reminiscent of 30’s and 40’s American vocal groups the Mill’s Brothers and the Ink Spots; ridiculous guitar show-offery that draws as much from Django Reinhardt as it does from Guthrie Govan; Double bass solo’s that drag Pop’s Fosters slap technique kicking and screaming into the 21st century; and a repertoire that’s seemingly firmly rooted in the 30’s Hot Club era, but will suddenly transport you through decades and styles, from New Orleans jazz, to Chicago blues and Parisian Musette, effortlessly, respectfully, but most importantly: with true joie de vivre! ********************************************************************************** Please note this ticket price DOES include a BYOB fee should you wish to bring alcohol to the venue. All additional purchases of non alcoholic drinks and home baked sweet treats from the cafe counter are always very much appreciated.
