Phil Beer is the multi-instrumental half of the west countryʼs award winning acoustic duo, Show of Hands. All are songs and music of memory and significance sung in the subtle and melodic Phil Beer style and interjected with musings and amusings to an almost personal audience. It is a treat of past and current favourites from one of the most popular musicians on the acoustic circuit.

Conrad Bird & The Pegwells

Green Note · London

Conrad Bird is a rambling rover from North Yorkshire, and after over a decade of fronting the very popular festival act, Holy Moly & The Crackers, he is finally taking it back to the roots, with a brand-new solo EP of poetic folk songs, and Dylan-inspired balladeering. His gravelly voice and his on-stage story-telling result in a very charming stage show. The Pegwells play the old-time music of the American South, through a specific decolonial and queer lens, as a way to claim space in a scene that marginalises non-male and non-white people. “We’re here to expand ingrained ideas of who this music belongs to and why; highlighting and dismantling the erasure of black contribution to traditional banjo and fiddle music. We are on a mission to embody a fuller, more honest history, that tracks the heritage of these tunes back to West Africa as well as here to the British Isles. Through this act of reclamation, our aim is to re-establish this music we love as a site and means of radical inclusion. Folk for the folk!”

Each one is an exploration and discovery of loss, hope, desire, and disillusionment through images of love-worn soldiers, scrambled weathervanes, listless sailors, and drifting satellites lost in an open heart.
