About this event

Philippe Nash + Repulsive Woman + Babe Martin + Heather Blether is on Wednesday 25 November 2026 at Common Ground, Oxford, with doors at 19:30. Tickets start at £7.70, including the booking fee.

Exciting new show and huge bill for November at Common Ground Oxford - we welcome Philippe Nash back to town after he's thrilled audiences over the past year alongside New Zealand songwriters Repulsive Woman and Babe Martin who are touring together and local scene legend Heather Blether playing solo! Weds 25th Nov from 7.30pm! Philippe Nash's songs and live delivery are gripping, rageful, cathartic and fragile - there is an undeniable presence to Philippe’s voice and a unique style to his writing and he sites punk-rock, midwestern emo, experimental folk and a touch noise as his influences while deep diving into his own visual world of folk-art inspired drawing, collage, painted poems and ephemeral compositions. We first met Millie Lovelock of Repulsive Woman in 2018 as she played in her alt-grunge duo Astral Children for us - now based in Manchester we've been trying to do another show for many years so we're stoked to hear her delicate, folk-pop leanings in the flesh for the first time. Babe Martin, with a voice like velvet and an acerbic deftness to her lyrics, comes to Oxford for the first tme with warm washes of violin and seascapes of piano combining to create a sonic world...

Amy Winehouse by Lucy Randell

Boisdale of Canary Wharf · London

“It’s rare you see such an effortless talent. Lucy is charismatic and cool through and through.” – Mathew Bridgeman, Promoter Lucy Randell approaches Amy Winehouse’s catalogue with a deep respect for its musical complexity. She emphasizes timing, phrasing and tonal contrast, the way Winehouse would land a word just behind the beat or hang a note into silence, rather than surface imitation. Lucy rejects mimicry; she interprets the songs through her own jazz and soul sensibility. Her career includes features with session groups and appearances around the UK and Australia, and she has performed at venues like Ronnie Scott’s, The Jazz Café and KOKO, stages Amy herself frequented. In a Camden Market event, Lucy articulated her method: “To sing Amy Winehouse you have to recognise that rhythm and tonal texture, and her timing. You really have to listen to how she lands her syllables.” Camden New Journal Expect a set drawn from Back to Black and Frank, delivered with Lucy’s own instrumentation and arrangements. Highlights often include “Valerie,” “Tears Dry On Their Own,” “Rehab,” “Back to Black,” “Love Is a Losing Game”. She yields space for the band...
