Preston Pop Fest is a huge three day indie-pop weekender over four stages at three venues in Preston city centre: The Continental, The Ferret and Vinyl Tap. All the different eras of the UK Pop Underground since the 80s are covered : from post-punk and C86 through indie dance and Brit Pop to the present day and from melodic jangle-meisters to the scratchy awkward squad beloved of the late John Peel. Everyone who plays, organises or attends indie and indie-pop shows in the North West was saddened to hear that uber-fan and unparalleled scene supporter Ana Maria Nazario has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Ana's trekked over from her home in Stockport to Preston many times to attend gigs at The Continental and we've put together a line-up of acts that Ana likes to pay tribute to her and raise some funds for her to complete her bucket-list. THE ROOM, AUTOCAMPER, TIGERS AND FLIES, THE AMBER LIST/ECHOES OF THE BUNNYMEN, GINNEL and THE OPENING SONG (inc Mark Whiteside) will be playing for Ana on Sunday 8th November at The Continental and we'd like you to be there.

John Bramwell of I Am Kloot

As the singer in I Am Kloot from 1999 to 2014, John Bramwell achieved a Mercury Prize nomination for 2010’s The Sky At Night, a Top 10 chart position for 2013’s Let It All In, numerous UK and European tours and a triumphant farewell at the Queen Elizabeth Hall with an orchestra in 2014. Now, as a solo artist, Bramwell travels a very different path, a path that criss-crosses the length and breadth of the UK with a humble agenda of taking his heartwarming songs to the stage and enjoying another moment in time with his devoted fans. The stunning 2023 sophomore solo album, The Light Fantasticwas an almost complete u-turn from the I Am Kloot outlook they were known for. Darker clouds banished and in replacement strings, four-part harmonies [a warming development, since Kloot never had any backing vocals] and a dozen gloriously exhilarating, beautifully crafted and observed songs about life, humanity, the universe and everything. As John put it, “It’s been great to find the joy of making music once again.
