Sally Ironmonger & Brian Carter

Cabbage Patch Pub · Twickenham

Sally Ironmonger & Brian Carter have been writing and performing together for two decades. They have produced four studio albums of songs about shipyards, prostitutes, trips to the seaside, self-deprecating amusing songs and protest anthems. Based in Medway, Kent, they write contemporary folk songs, with a nod to traditional themes. Sally describes their work as "modern folk songs, telling stories and making social comment, making people laugh as well as think". Brian has worked as a professional and semi-professional musician all of his adult life and has developed a style which fuses jazz, folk and Latin to produce a unique mix of melody and bass rhythms. Over the years, the duo have written commissions for BBC documentaries and Broadstairs Folk Week, and have supported artists including Belshazzar’s Feast, Barbara Dickson, Jacqui McShee, Chris Wood and Jez Lowe. The Hooten Hallers (USA)

Leytonstone Social Club · London

Hailing from Missouri, for the past nineteen years, The Hooten Hallers have been tearing up the road, blending blues, garage rock, country, punk, and jazz into a sound that's truly their own. The band's high-octane live shows must be experienced to be believed, with their raucous jams, tight vocal harmonies, and danceable grooves that make for a wild night and an unforgettable music experience. This powerhouse trio is driven by the vocal growl and swirling electric and lap steel guitars of John Randall, the powerful drumming and falsetto howl of Andy Rehm, and the burning baritone and bass saxophone lines of Kellie Everett. It’s Morphine meets ZZ Top mixed with a dash of George Thorogood and Tom Waits. But anyone who has seen this band live knows that this group is unlike anything they’ve experienced before. When The Hooten Hallers come to town, you know it’s gonna be a party!
