The Face Bar, Reading

About this event

Straighten Out is on Saturday 13 March 2027 at The Face Bar, Reading, with doors at 19:30. Tickets start at £16.50, including the booking fee.

STRAIGHTEN OUT are the premier Stranglers tribute band out there...with an extensive set-list that spans two solid hours as they re-create the 'early years' sound of The Stranglers, complete with a keyboard rig that is the same model as the original used by Mr. Greenfield himself in the 1970's...! The growling bass sound and the quirky guitar riffs are all there to be heard as is the dual vocal 'attack' from the two frontmen a la Burnel-Cornwell as they rip through all the classics: 'Peaches', 'Hanging Around', 'No More Heroes', '5 Minutes', 'The Raven', 'Walk On By', 'Straighten Out', 'Down In The Sewer' and many more as they cover virtually the whole of the first three Stranglers' albums and beyond... This is a limited capacity event in the Blue Room of the Face Bar - book early to avoid disappointment

Solent Concert Orchestra: Court to Carnival

St Andrew's Centre · Southampton

Conducted by Simon Wilkins, the Solent Concert Orchestra presents Court to Carnival, an afternoon of music inspired by dance. From the stately character of Britten’s Five Courtly Dances to the lively rhythms of Cui’s Tarentella in G Minor and Brahms’s Hungarian Dances, the programme moves through a colourful range of styles and moods. The orchestra will also perform Hérold’s spirited Zampa Overture, Debussy’s playful Children’s Corner Suite and selections from Tchaikovsky’s much-loved ballet music. Together, these works bring the elegance of the court, the magic of the ballet and the energy of the dance floor to the concert hall. BRAHMS Hungarian Dances BRITTEN Five Courtly Dances CUI Tarentella in G Minor DEBUSSY Children's Corner Suite HÉROLD Zampa Overture TCHAIKOVSKY Ballet Selections The Solent Concert Orchestra is a group of amateur musicians from the Southampton, Solent and New Forest area.
