Undercover Hippy

The Fickle Pickle Club · Westcliff-on-Sea

Nothing to see here ladies and gentleman, please return to your place of work in a calm and orderly manner and resume your productive activities. Oh that? That’s nothing. Well… I mean obviously it’s something, but I can assure you it’s nothing you should concern yourself with. Just a bit of trouble in a far off land. Just a few bad apples getting up to mischief on a naughty island. Just a little bit of white supremacy dressed up as patriotism. Nothing a good cup of tea can’t sort out. Look, Gogglebox has just started… you like that don’t you? Of course you do, who doesn’t! Just sit back and watch some people on telly watching some other people on telly. We’ll take care of all this nonsense, it’s all under control… This October, The Undercover Hippy are on tour once again, promoting the release of their new single “Nothing To See Here”. As always, the band uses their music to draw attention to the issues that those in power would rather you ignored. But ignorance is no longer an option. DJ Nights: Mi-Soul Radio Fridays

Boisdale of Canary Wharf · London

Dinner & Table Reservations from 5pm. DJs from 7pm-2am Boisdale has Jools Holland as Patron of Music, a live programme that runs seven nights a week and a NEXO sound system installed because the music demands it. Mi-Soul Radio has Gordon Mac MBE, Kiss FM in its DNA and thirty years of soul, house and R&B running through everything it does. On Friday nights the two come together on the first floor and the result is exactly what you would hope for. The selectors rotate through the Mi-Soul roster each week, which keeps the sets fresh without ever dropping the standard. Deep soulful house one Friday, classic R&B the next, but always played by someone who has a genuine relationship with the music rather than a playlist and a laptop. Start on the heated terrace with a cocktail overlooking Cabot Square, move inside when the night builds and let the sound system do the rest. First Floor Bar & Heated Garden Terrace Nestled in Cabot Square and overlooking the fountain with the Canary Wharf skyline beyond, the first floor bar and heated garden terrace is a destination in its own right. Fine wines, premium spirits and expertly crafted cocktails, with a selection that covers everything from rar...

Jazz At St Andrews presents; Andy Panayi Quintet

St Andrews Church · Hove

Andy Panayi is one of the UK's most well-respected sax players, with a biography that reads like a who's who of jazz. In this project he looks to the music and compositions of one of hard-bop's most melodic, yet often overlooked trumpet players – Kenny Dorham. With Chris Coull – trumpet, Mark Edwards – piano, Simon Thorpe – bass, and Joe Edwards – drums.
