The Albany Club, Coventry

About this event

The Alan Barnes / Bruce Adams Quintet is on Thursday 26 November 2026 at The Albany Club, Coventry, with doors at 19:00. Tickets start at £7.70, including the booking fee.

Ever-popular Alan Barnes / Bruce Adams straight-ahead hard bop quintet he’s been performing for 28 years! A repertoire from the classic years of bop with an emphasis on accessibility, good humour and a conviction that jazz should swing. Barnes has dominated the saxophone and clarinet section of the British jazz awards throughout the ‘90s and beyond and is often to be seen compering as well as performing at major jazz festivals. Bruce Adams (Trumpet and Flugelhorn): Not only is Bruce one the jazz scene’s most dramatic and stimulating performers, he is also a tremendously affable companion. A band-room with the Glaswegian Mr. Adams present is a happy and riotous place.

The Lorne Lofski / Nigel Price Quartet

The Albany Club · Coventry

Lorne Lofsky is literally a living legend, having toured and recorded with Oscar Peterson, Joey DeFrancesco and…wait for it…Chet Baker! He’s also perhaps more widely known in guitar circles as working and recording with the great Ed Bickert (guitarist with Paul Desmond). Nigel Price is one of the most highly regarded and in demand guitarists on the UK jazz scene today. He spent three years with UK funk legends - the James Taylor Quartet, was voted No.1 in the 2016 British Jazz Awards for “best guitarist” and is also a regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s, where he’s played around 600 times. Joel Barford is the hottest drummer on the scene right now. Despite his young age, his boundless energy and startling prowess has already been thrilling audiences up and down the country and around the World. Completing the quartet is cool headed double bassist Jeremy Brown, who is definitely the first call for visiting international stars. This means his CV is absolutely stunning and rightly so.
