Cygnet Theatre, Exeter

About this event

The Crucible by Arthur Miller is on Saturday 31 October 2026 at Cygnet Theatre, Exeter, with doors at 19:00. Tickets start at £11, including the booking fee.

This Halloween, Shake on the Exe presents Arthur Miller’s — a chilling story of fear, suspicion, and mass hysteria. Set in the shadow of the Salem witch trials, our production remains rooted in its traditional world while drawing unsettling parallels to the society we live in today. As accusations spread and neighbours turn on one another, truth becomes dangerous and panic takes control. Dark, atmospheric, and disturbingly relevant, this haunting new production asks: when fear rules a community, who survives? Join us this Halloween season for an unforgettable night of tension, paranoia, and powerful theatre.

Alongside performing their favourite contemporary folk arrangements, the musicians will also offer an insight into the Scandinavian tradition of hygge. The evening's programme centres on tunes from Denmark, Norway and Sweden, arranged by the Danish String Quartet, and also includes original music from closer to home. The repertoire features pieces by Exeter based composer Ali Jones. Take the opportunity to sit back, switch off from the digital world, and enjoy the cosy atmosphere. 2:22 A Ghost Story

Buscot Park Theatre · Faringdon

A Dinner party; A haunted house; A tragic secret. As the clock ticks towards 2:22am tensions amongst the four dinner guests start to rise and reality begins to unravel. Is there really something in the house, or is someone losing their mind? 2:22 A Ghost Story is full of twists and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final chilling moment. Only Four performances, each starting at 7.30pm. Our bar will be serving wines, beer and soft drinks from 6.45pm and during the interval. Cash or card payments accepted. The theatre is quite remote, so a car is needed for access, and there is a short walk from the car park to the theatre. The auditorium is accessed via a flight of stairs, and the seating itself is raked, which makes it unsuitable for those with reduced mobility (wheelchair users, people who rely on a walking frame)
