Suburban Toys, Critical Candy & The Puncturists

The Loft · Grimsby

The Loft is playing host to three bands that recently graced various stages at the Rebellion Punk Festivals and associated Rebellion Fringe festivals in August. This triple header will give Grimsby punks a chance to see some of the upcoming bands currently on the scene. The Puncturists are a female-fronted four-piece melodic garage punk band who currently rehearse in Barnsley, with members also living in Goole and Grimsby. The band started in 2022, although the current line-up has been together for approximately 2 years; singer Gail Townsend, Dale Farrow on bass, Martin Gregory on drums and guitarist Patrick Crawford, and the keen eyed amongst you will realise that they have played at The Loft previously, supporting on the last GBH all-dayer. The band have recently released their first full length album entitled ‘I’m Not Alright, having spent the best part of 2025 working on and recording it. They felt it was worth putting the ‘extra’ in to ensure it was exactly how they wanted it. The drums were played down in The Chantry Brewery venue in Rotherham, due to having incredible acoustics, with the remainder being recorded at Orion Studios in Rotherham.. A special word must go...

HDIF Children's Disco Halloween Party

The Phoenix Club · London

Date change! This is now happening on Halloween itself - Saturday October 31st! A Halloween edition of our all-ages daytime disco! Come and dance to indie pop, northern soul, and Motown, with some spooky gems and graveyard smashes thrown in for good measure. And, of course, if you feel like dressing up, then please do! Come and rattle your bones to "There's A Ghost In My House". "Monster Mash", and lots lots more! We've held the HDIF Children's disco at the End Of The Road festival since 2011, and they've been lots and lots of fun. We play our usual mixture of indie pop and soul, and the discos are a wonderful opportunity for kids to bop around to Belle & Sebastian, Allo Darlin', Ramones, Pixies and more, and for their parents to bop along with them. It can often be hard to get out to club nights once you become a parent, so these discos are as much a chance for the parents to go out dancing as they are for the kids. We also want to provide an alternative to the many rave-themed kids discos that are on offer in London. If you'd rather dance to your favourite indie pop and Motown songs with your children, then we're the disco for you! Music will be played at a reasonable level. We'l...

Expect smooth vocals, rich harmonies, deep basslines and soulful horn lines, with classics inspired by TLC, Usher, Blackstreet, Donell Jones and Ne-Yo. The set moves from slow jams to singalong hooks and dancefloor favourites, bringing the feel of the era into a live setting without overworking it. It is polished, warm and full of those “I forgot how good this song is” moments. A resident DJ keeps things moving from 12pm to 4pm, with classic R&B and soulful throwbacks before and after the live set. Served alongside Boisdale’s three-course lunch, this is a Saturday made for birthdays, catch-ups, celebrations and groups that want good food with a proper soundtrack.
