The Maes (trio) in concert, Meltham, Huddersfield
Community Hub · Meltham
The Maes (Australia) perform an exquisite brand of modern folk music, with outstanding musicianship and glorious vocals. Sisters Maggie Rigby and Elsie Rigby bring their acoustic mastery (on guitar, mandolin, fiddle and banjo) and exceptional, thought-provoking original songs to Yorkshire, with the touring trio completed by double bassist Isaac Gunnoo, who also contributes to the band’s characteristic spine-tingling vocal harmonies. First formed in 2011, The Maes have toured around the world in recent years, have released four studio albums to date and have won many accolades in their home country, including Music Victoria’s Folk/Roots Album of the Year and Australian Folk Alliance’s 2026 Duo of the Year Award. The Carlile Institute is a community venue housed in a characterful 19th century stone building in the heart of the village of Meltham, close to Huddersfield and Holmfirth and around an hour by car from Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield. There will be a licensed bar at the event, run by the volunteers of Meltham Carlile CIC. Doors 7.30pm, showtime from 8pm For more information visit truenorthmusic.co.uk
