Jon Wilks Described by The Quietus as one of the driving forces of the London folk scene, Jon Wilks is a folk singer, songwriter and acclaimed fingerpicking guitarist rooted in English folk traditions, memory and place. His stand-out talent has received regular acclaim from publications including The Guardian, Uncut, Songlines, MOJO and RNR, and he was recognised with a double-page feature in Guitarist magazine. Wilks has released five solo albums, one EP and one compilation to date. His fourth album, Before I Knew What Had Begun I Had Already Lost, was named Folk Album of the Month by The Guardian. His fifth and most recent solo album, Needless Alley (September 2025), received widespread critical praise, including four-star reviews from MOJO, RNR and Songlines. Described by Wilks as ‘a patchwork of memories — what you’d find if you rummaged around in my head for an afternoon’, Needless Alley marks a shift from his earlier, more traditional repertoire towards a collection of largely original, autobiographical songs. Both lyrically and sonically, the album looks back to the music he connected with in his teens, shaped by early songwriting instincts and formative band experie...

MG Boulter - Glastonbury (Avalon Acoustic Sessions)

The Avalon Club (Avalon Suite) · Glastonbury

M.G. Boulter is a songwriter and musician living on the Thames coast in Essex, UK. Serving his apprenticeship in numerous bands in the hotbed of the Southed-on-Sea pub rock scene (the precursors of which were household names such as Procol Harem, Dr Feelgood and Eddie and the Hotrods), M G came to lead, as singer and guitarist, the popular country rock band The Lucky Strikes, who Q Magazine once likened to “The Waterboys on trucker pills”. During the Lucky Strikes’s tenure (which produced 5 studio albums) M G met New York native and songwriter Simone Felice (The Felice Brothers) and formed a close collaborative working relationship with him from 2012 to 2015. M G featured on the lap steel and mandolin for the majority of Felice’s UK and US tours and became a fixture in the touring incarnation of Felice’s band project The Duke and the King. In 2013 M G released his debut album The Water or the Wave, which saw him fulfil a personal ambition to record with the legendary drummer, Pick Withers (Dire Straits, Bob Dylan & Bert Jansch). 2014-2017 saw a busy collaborative period for M G - he worked on long term projects with Scottish artists Blue Rose Code and Samantha Whates, as...

Jess Silk, Matt Johnson & Joe Solo - Glastonbury (Avalon Acoustic Sessions)

The Avalon Club (Avalon Suite) · Glastonbury

Jess Silk https://jesssilk.co.uk Jess Silk is a guitarist, singer and songwriter from the Black Country. Her shouty but melodic brand of folk/punk music gets people sitting up and listening. Armed only with an increasingly sticker-covered acoustic guitar, lyrics right from the heart and a distinctive, gravelly voice that many don't expect, Jess plays to audiences up and down the UK and has shared stages with many well known names among the folk/punk scene. Jess released her debut album, Break the Bottle, in May 2018 with a packed out show at her spiritual home of Katie Fitzgerald’s in Stourbridge. Since then she’s shared a number of other releases including two live EP’s with tracks taken from shows at Katie’s and HMV Merry Hill. 2020 saw the world shut down and Jess release two (almost completely) self produced EPs, the first of which, If We’re Damned, was put together from songs that had been gathering metaphorical dust on her hard drive, and the second, There’s A Bar At the End Of the World, a collection of songs written between March and August taking their inspiration from the events of the year. At the end of August 2021 Jess released her second full-length album...
