Weirdshire presents Rattle

The Jam Factory · Hereford

Rattle are a drum duo from Nottingham and we've been trying to find a date for them to come to Weirdshire for a while now. They play mesmeric, pulsing music which has been described by their record label (Upset the Rhythm) better than I can: "... all the physicality and drama of another world pulling together around its own shifting centre of gravity. The drum beats phase and sidestep, they trade accents and overlap, providing a suitably alive terrain for the vocals to explore similar tendencies of pattern." After the release of their debut album they opened for Animal Collective on their UK tour before heading out around Europe. And opening the evening, another band we have been trying for a while to arrange a date with - Herefordshire's Hurricane Tapes. Another force to be reckoned with - post-punk meets grunge, with elements of psychedelia. For fans of Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus and Mary Chain. Their debut ep was released in January of this year.

The Jam Factory · Hereford

Always expressed with a strong emphasis on melody and narrative, aiming to take the listener on journeys of much needed escapism. They were an absolute force to be reckoned with last time and we're really excited to have them play again. Described on John Robb's Louder than War site: "... relentless riffing can suddenly morph from Sabbath sludge to Television crispness.... chock full of magical moments and surprise left turns which will excite". Dean McPhee's music draws on influences from dub, British folk, underground electronic music, and psychedelic rock. He has toured throughout the UK and Europe, opening for artists including Thurston Moore, Acid Mothers Temple, Michael Chapman, Wolf People, The Magic Band, Emeralds, and Ex-Easter Island Head. Dean is tourin...
