Wax Head

The Library · Oxford

A visceral gang of youth rolling around in a sweaty pit of garage-psych riffage. Born out of Manchester’s growing garage/punk scene, Wax Head have made a strong name for themselves via their relentless gigging, sweaty live shows and garage-psych riffage. The drummer-fronted punk quartet launched onto the touring circuit supporting US psych & garage outfits. They’ve tapped into a vein of fuzzy Californian garage-rock and with an alternative DIY music ethos, they make up one of a number of exciting young artists changing the face of the city’s live circuit. In a scene saturated with jarring and angular post punk, Wax Head have stamped their chaotic psych noise on the North West. The band’s sound has been championed by BBC6 Music and KEXP, receiving extensive airplay from the likes of Steve Lamacq, Deb Grant, and Emily Pilbeam. Debut album, 'GNAT' was released earlier this year via Sour Grapes Records.

Savak + Sinews + Ember

The Library · Oxford

Delighted be welcoming Savak back to town at the Library on Monday 2nd November! Savak are legends of the American alt-rock underground, having made 7 albums in 10 years, along with several 7" singles, EPs and splits. This October will see the release of Door Deals & Debt, an essential collection that spans the band's career to date. The core trio includes Sohrab Habibion (Obits, Edsel) and Michael Jaworski (The Cops) – who sing, play guitar, and split the songwriting – along with Matt Schulz (Holy Fuck, Enon) on drums. Bassist Matt Hunter (Silver Jews, New Radiant Storm King) joins for live performances. Drummer Alexis Fleisig (Girls Against Boys) will be touring with them in the UK this year! Recommended for fans of Television, Wire, Mission of Burma, and Magazine. https://www.instagram.com/savakband/ They're touring with Oxford's Sinews - playing unfashionable post-hardcore rock music, made up of Heather, Luke, Rich and Thomas. The band released their debut EP 'Reanimated' in January 2024, and a follow up EP 'Choreography' in February 2025, which Nightshift Magazine said ‘stands true to post-hardcore’s original ideals and finds the sweet spot between thoughtful intricacy...

Firestations + Patsy Delve + Nothing Dreams

The Library · Oxford

Oxford! Divine Schism host London art-pop band Firestations next month hot on the heels of their new record ‘International Dust’ which came out yesterday on Lost Map Records - they play the Library with Bristol-based kaleidoscopic doo-wop act Patsy Delve and Oxford’s jangle alt-rockers Nothing Dreams on Weds 4th Nov! This tour marks a return to Firestations’ full five-piece band format after a journey into more stripped back alt-folk territory on last year’s ‘Many White Horses’. The nine tracks on the new album encompass an eclectic and intuitive mix of art-pop, alt-country and hypnotic cyclical numbers, shaped collectively by the band as a unit through various twists and turns at rehearsal sessions during 2024. Excited to see Firestations for the first time, encompassing an eclectic and intuitive mix of dream-pop, alt-country and hypnotic cyclical numbers that were shaped collectively by the whole band through their various twists and turns through rehearsals for this sparkling new record. Patsy Delve bring their tender pop, haunted tape manipulation, frazzled microphone hiss and reverb soaked androgynous vocals to Oxford for the first time, combining all this into o...

Indica Blues and BarrelHaus Live @ The Library Pub

The Library · Oxford

Doom desert-rock from Indica Blues and heavy alt-rock from Oxford’s BarrelHaus. Expect heavy. About Indica Blues: Since forming in 2014, Indica Blues have crafted a reputation as one of the UK’s most compelling psychedelic, stoner-doom hybrids. Once described as “bong-filling rock that is platinum heavy, but blessed with a melodic sensibility underneath it all,” their blend of fuzz-drenched blues, doom, sludge, and psychedelic melancholy has earned them fans across continents and glowing press from underground reviewers and major publications alike. About BarrelHaus: An alt-rock trio from Oxford, UK. Best played loud. Praise for BarrelHaus: God Is In The TV Zine: ‘One of the most exciting rock bands in the UK.’ Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6): ‘A great combination of powerful playing and proper songwriting.’ Nightshift Music Magazine: ‘Every song here is great.’ Oxfordshire Music Scene: ‘Hard-rock carnage.’ Dave Gilyeat (BBC Introducing): ‘So rockin’!’ RGSoundwaves: ‘It sounds amazing’!

And Yet, Here We Are present But Then, There They Were

The Library · Oxford

An second hour of favourite audio comedy sketches from the long-established Oxford quintet. It's like listening to the radio, except you have to go to a special place to do it. For fans of Mitchell & Webb, Fry & Laurie, Key & Peele, and even some acts that aren't duos, like Absolutely and Monty Python. The night will open with the excellently smutty and hilarious spoken word of Abbie Loosemore (from top synthpoppers No Worries If Not)
