Simply Dylan @ Wychwood Folk & Acoustic Club

Tiddy Hall · Ascott-Under-Wychwood

No frills, no gimmicks, no pretence SIMPLY DYLAN is John O'Connell's personal exploration and celebration of the rich and diverse work of Bob Dylan. John O'Connell, a rare talent who has had his name indelibly written in to the tapestry of Liverpool's music scene, has collaborated with other highly reputable musicians from the city to form his Dylan Band. It is their precise playing and high energy renditions of Dylan's work from the 1970s onwards which has gathered momentum and generated incredible interest. From a modest project recognising Dylan's 70th Birthday in 2011 Simply Dylan has gone from selling out the Cavern Club 6 times, to receiving fantastic reviews from the Spanish Press, to impressing Dylan fans from across the UK on their Tours with SJM Concerts, to opening up the IOW Festival 2019 performing on the Big Top Stage. No ordinary interpretation, this is a remarkable and exceptional project which promises to delight Dylan fans young and old and to ignite a new wave of passion for one of the world's most prodigious songwriters. Track Dogs @ Wychwood Folk & Acoustic Club

Tiddy Hall · Ascott-Under-Wychwood

Track Dogs are two Irishmen, an Englishman and an American, (Garrett Wall, Dave Mooney, Howard Brown & Robbie K Jones), whose artistic name derives from the dark subterranean world of New York’s subway system. If they are still new to you, check out recent releases Fire on The Rails (2020) and Where to Now? (2022) and see why they are so hard to pigeonhole. Formed in the Autumn of 2006 in Madrid around the eclectic line-up of acoustic guitar, electric bass, trumpet and cajón, over the following 17 years they have added banjo, ukulele and mandolin as well as honing their four part vocal harmonies, now very much an integral part of their “sound”. Well-established in Spain where they are based, they are surprising music lovers everywhere with “Sun-shiny songs thriving on dark themes behind irresistible rhythms.” After a fortuitous invitation to the Costa del Folk Festival in Ibiza they have teamed up with Firebrand Music in the UK who also represent folk legends Show of Hands with whom they released a 23-track live album, “Dog Show Sessions”, in 2023. With 7 albums under their belts (9 if you count the two they recorded as Garrett Wall Band 2006-2010) their versatile an...

The Rosie Hood Band @ Wychwood Folk & Acoustic Club

Tiddy Hall · Ascott-Under-Wychwood

A former BBC Performing Arts Fellow and Horizon Folk Award nominee, Rosie Hood was born in Wiltshire but has now called Sheffield home for ten years, from where she has toured extensively both solo and in many collaborations. Known for her powerful and clear vocals, Rosie's captivating performances combine her poetic writing with dynamic and honest interpretations of traditional songs. The Rosie Hood Band formed in 2022 to develop the sound and writing that Rosie had begun to explore in her 2017 release The Beautiful & The Actual. Along with long-term collaborator and skilled arranger Rochdale-born Nicola Beazley (Alex Cumming & Nicola Beazley), Rosie turned to the folk scene of her adopted hometown. Melodeon-player and percussionist Robyn Wallace (Bellamira), also originally from Rochdale, and fellow Wiltshire native fiddle-player Rosie Butler-Hall (The English Fiddle Ensemble) completed the line-up. With experience playing for ceilidhs, dancing and in brass bands, the instrumentalists bring a great dynamic lift and drive, continuing Rosie's vision of re-working traditional English songs, as well as writing and arranging original material, touching on nature, human struggle, women...

John Kirkpatrick @ Wychwood Folk & Acoustic Club

Tiddy Hall · Ascott-Under-Wychwood

THE VICTORIAN FARMER’S YEAR IN SONG Following his appearances on the massively popular TV series “Victorian Farm”, John Kirkpatrick presents a programme of traditional songs to take us through a year in the countryside, reflecting the highs and lows of each season, and giving an authentic voice to the old way of life. Although agricultural working conditions in the later nineteenth century were as bad as any in the country, the songs that have been handed down from this time choose to embody hope and optimism, and a great delight in the processes of nature - songs designed to keep the spirits high and buoyant, rather than dwell on the gloomier side of a life that most of us today would find quite impossible. So here we have The Victorian Farmer’s Year In Song – songs about farmers, and songs sung by farmers; songs about the work on the farm, and songs to make that work easier; songs celebrating particular days in the country calendar, and songs celebrating the daily miracle of life, death, and renewal. And the world we are shown here is not a romantic pastoral idyll viewed through rose-tinted spectacles – this is a world full of sweat and muck, a world with dirt under t...
