Honey and the Bear
Memorial Hall · Reeth
Honey and The Bear are UK Folk and Roots multi-instrumentalists Lucy and Jon Hart. Formed in 2014, the duo have gone from strength to strength, releasing three critically acclaimed albums and gathering an enthusiastic following of loyal fans. Recently shortlisted for the FATEA Band/Duo of the Year (2023), their live performances are full of variation, from emotive and dramatic full-bodied ballads, to rip-roaring tales of adventure on the seas. Weaving stories into song, with a strong focus on their Suffolk roots, community and family, they are able to bring a tear to your eye in one moment, and in the next, have you up on your feet. Born and raised in Suffolk, Lucy learned violin and drums at school, sung in the Suffolk Jubilee choir and started songwriting at 15. She taught herself guitar whilst at university in Canterbury and began performing her creations not long afterwards, releasing her debut band album ’Step Right On’ at 27. Jon, a Yorkshire boy, raised in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, has been performing his own songs since his teens. A self-taught guitarist, his love of driving guitar riffs is a core aspect of his song writing process.

Isobel Anderson: END TIMES - Album Launch Show
Museum & Art Gallery · Hastings
Sonics Collective CIC is proud to present a special, intimate live show to celebrate the release of Isobel Anderson’s album END TIMES, performed across a spatial sound system purpose-built by Hastings sound artist Tony Birch, in the atmospheric setting of Hastings Museum’s Durbar Hall. Described by Neil Mason of Moonbuilding as “wildly creative and technically spot on”, END TIMES was recorded during four solitary stays at Dungeness. Blending voice, electronics and field recordings, the album is a bold yet beautiful container for grieving the collapse of ecosystems, objective reality and our shared humanity, while honouring the beauty that remains and the mystery of prophecy and future-gazing. Hag Stones — symbols of truth, portals and protection — recur throughout END TIMES’ artwork. To open the evening, Tony Birch will premier a live solo Hag Stone performance, where Hag Stones are threaded through piano strings to create shifting harmonics, while controlling the movement of sound in three dimensions across the architecture of the Durbar Hall. Isobel Anderson is a music-maker, sound artist and performer whose work explores sound, voice, landscape and change. Her work...

King No-One
Portland Arms · Cambridge
Doors 7 The Portland 8 - 8.30 King No-One 9 A sharp jolt of northern electricity, King No-One have quietly but assuredly become one of the UK's most exhilarating bands on the rise. Formed in the underground scene of York, they cut their teeth busking on chilly city pavements. Relentless touring and a string of infectious singles have won them loyal fans across the country, while their open embrace of individuality and social consciousness has set them apart on the live circuit. Bringing together glistening guitar riffs, punchy rhythms, and poetic narratives, their sound is both urgent and heartfelt. Vocalist and lyricist Zach Lount, never shy of raw honesty, channels his lived experience into a performance that is as revealing as it is relatable. Alongside him guitar hero Joe Martin throws impossible shapes and bassist Rob Gration shows he is a cult rock star in the making. King No-One don’t just introduce themselves, they throw open the doors to their world. They insist you walk on in. Price includes a 50p venue levy

Melvin Hancox Band - Blues/Rock Psychedelia
Joe Joe Jims · Birmingham
On Friday 23rd October The Melvin Hancox Band make a welcome return to Joe Joe Jims. Melvin has had a varied musical career from securing his first record deal at 16 to forming Joe Joe Jims favourites Vincent Flatts Final Drive and working with Budgie, Man, Tony McPhee, Canned Heat and the Ace Kefford, among many others. The power trio – also featuring Mickey Barker on drums and James Hoskins on bass – plays original material along with a smattering of classic rock (Highway to Hell and Freebird have been known to put in an appearance, among others) and blues covers with their own twist - or in their words, “blues/rock played with more psychedelic experience and imagination than most“ - and we have enjoyed many great gigs from them over the years at JJJ. We can guarantee this show will be one not to miss! Ticket: £10.00 (+Fees) online | £13.00 on the door (subject to capacity) Ticketing Information: Tickets are for ‘general admission’ giving you access to any available seating or standing areas. There is no assigned seating, any seating that is available can be taken on a first come first served basis. Last entry to Joe Joe Jims is at 10.30pm. Accessibility: Access to...
