About this event

Duo Tutti: Music for the Frozen Moon is on Sunday 22 November 2026 at Arts Centre, Ashburton, with doors at 14:30. Tickets start at £7.70, including the booking fee.

The full moon invites us to pause and appreciate beauty, a perfect moment for an afternoon of flute and piano music with Duo Tutti, in our intimate surroundings. Ruth Molins (flute, alto flute, bass flute) and Alex Wilson (piano) perform classical concerts with a twist: performing well-loved music plus unfamiliar works, with an opportunity to vote to hear a piece again. Ruth and Alex formed Duo Tutti in 2022 with two aims: to focus on new and neglected repertoire, and to make live classical music accessible to all. With a reputation for imaginative programming and engaging performance, they work with the charities Live Music Now, Libraries Unlimited and Vive La Musique, and have given hundreds of performances in concert and community settings across the South West. Released in 2025, their debut album Dances and Dreams — “Full of sparkle, character and precision” (British Flute Society) — includes newly commissioned compositions and artwork, and a piece for bass flute and piano by Ruth Molins. Ruth Molins studied music and English literature at Cardiff University, graduating with joint honours. Post-degree she continued her flute studies independently, receiving lessons from...

Harbottle & Jonas, with Richard Trethewey and the Wild Goose Choir

Arts Centre · Ashburton

Having made their home on Dartmoor, Dave Harbottle and Freya Jonas have spent the past few years gathering songs, stories, melodies and fragments from the landscape around them. Inspired by ancient tors, wooded valleys, rivers, churches and the people and stories of Devon, From The Moor To The Sea brings traditional material into conversation with new songs reflecting their own experience of putting down roots and raising a family here. The album’s title was inspired by the extraordinary journey of the wild salmon, travelling downstream from the moor to the sea before eventually finding its way home again. That image of landscape, journey and return runs through the heart of the record. For this special launch concert, Harbottle & Jonas will be joined by Cornish fiddle player and Bard Richard Trethewey, alongside Freya’s Wild Goose Choir, bringing to life the voices, harmonies and community that have become part of the album itself. An evening of old songs, new songs and stories rooted in the place Harbottle & Jonas now call home. From the moor, to the sea, and home again. Not Only But Also The Blues: James Dixon and Russell Sinclair

Arts Centre · Ashburton

James Dixon “Melodic, soulful and simply beautiful” BBC Introducing “A soul brother....got his fingers in the mud” Seasick Steve With a sound that is both raw and intimate, he engages his audiences across the country with heartfelt lyrics, soulful vocals and a guitar style described as “red in tooth and claw” (Americana-UK) Heavily inspired by Chris Whitley, John Martyn, Kelly Joe Phelps, Neil Young, Nic Jones, Chris Wood and Ralph McTell. James has a deep respect and passion for the long traditions of his instruments and music. At the same time he is driven by a strong urge to challenge the ossified conventions that keep some of these traditions from new ears. This dance between the past and the present is what makes James’s heart beat when performing. Choosing to reject effects pedals altogether, he chooses from a quiver of instruments including a beloved custom made 6 string cigar-box guitar called “The Weight” (after the Band’s classic song); a National Style 0 resonator; 1950s Harmony Silvertone and his Bulwark Guild dreadnought acoustic; all in various traditional open tunings. Well known in the UK cigar-box scene, James has been collaborating with Dirtbox...

Sunday Jazz Lunch | Frank Sinatra

Boisdale of Canary Wharf · London

“Stephen Triffitt is the best. The greatest. Because he captures the soul of my Father.” — Frank Sinatra Jr. Some performers study Sinatra. Stephen Triffitt inhabits him. Direct from Las Vegas, he brings a show built on timing, phrasing and the quiet confidence that defined Sinatra at his peak. From "My Way" and "New York, New York" to "I’ve Got You Under My Skin" and "That’s Life", the set moves through songs that were written to be lived in, not just sung. Backed by a superb live band, Triffitt delivers them with control and ease, letting the arrangements breathe while keeping that unmistakable swing intact. His credentials are not decorative. Triffitt starred as Sinatra in the original West End production of The Rat Pack Live and has sold out the London Palladium, building a reputation as one of the most respected interpreters of this music anywhere. This is Sinatra as it works best, up close, well played and without excess. Alongside the performance, guests can enjoy Boisdale’s two-course Sunday lunch, including the 18-hour slow-roasted dry-aged rib of Scottish beef, goose fat roast potatoes and classic sides, with vegetarian options also available. THE GIFT and THE ROUND WINDOW

The Camden Club · London

THE GIFT are regarded by some as ‘the best kept secret’ in progressive and art rock. Back in the early noughties their first album ‘Awake & Dreaming’ impressed those in the know with its heady mixture of ‘70s style and contemporary soundscapes. Then there was silence...until the band reformed and released 2014’s “Land of Shadows”, an ambitious song suite packed with strong melodies and multi-layered instrumental workouts. In 2016 The Gift released their 3rd album, ‘Why The Sea Is Salt’, which Prog magazine described as a ‘masterpiece’. It fused symphonic, long form suites with tasteful shorter songs, and featured luminaries Steve Hackett and Anthony Phillips as guest musicians. In 2019 The Gift released their 4th album ‘Antenna’, which was even harder hitting than before whilst still retaining their signature sound. Then the pandemic brought silence, as well as lineup changes. But it didn’t stop the songs. For the last few years The Gift has been busy creating and recording their 5th album ‘Seven Seasons’. Inspired by Shakespeare’s ode to our mortal experience, it explores the stages of life from birth until the end of days. Like the human condit...

Healthy Junkies

Dublin Castle · London

Healthy Junkies - they’ve been around a few years now but these thermonuclear powered grunge punk alterno dynamos just go from strength to strength. Always a totally committed performance that leaves your ears throbbing, your head spinning and your mind fully saturated with punk rock joy. Excellent band. Neovenator - the best band named after a dinosaur since Bolan boogied, these guys seem to be a semblance of The Who in conflagration with The Stranglers, playing Blur like songs in the style of The Subhumans. Ok nothing like that. Very good tho. Gripper Lee - post punk and Goff flavours with a powerhouse delivery. Named of course after the blind one from Peters and Lee who was also the only sightless wrestler to kick Big Daddy’s ass on World of Sport back in the day. Tony Buggerbear supplied the hot nuggets in between sets.
