About this event

Greg Brice Blues is on Friday 19 March 2027 at Arts, Calstock, with doors at 19:00. Tickets start at £11, including the booking fee.

Greg Brice is a distinctive voice in the UK blues and Americana scene, combining intricate fingerstyle guitar, strident electric slide and a powerful, pure vocal style with songwriting that cuts straight to the heart of roots music. Back in the pubs, clubs and bars of the West Midlands, Greg quickly learned how to command even the toughest audiences, often having them hanging on his every word within just a few bars. That raw, immediate connection remains at the heart of his performances today, while his evolving songwriting has seen him make a growing impression on the UK’s Blues and Americana circuit.

Budapest Cafe Orchestra

Arts · Calstock

In 2009 Christian Garrick established the refreshingly unconventional and snappily attired Budapest Café Orchestra (BCO) with the intention to present a broad range of music from all over the world in the most entertaining and fun way. BCO perform all their music from memory. Combined their trademark wit and charm, audiences are left tingling with warmth, delight and amazement. BCO are one of the very busiest acoustic groups for me today playing an average of 75 shows per annum. Since their inception they have recorded one album every year and in January 2025 made their 16th waxing Goulash Supernova. BCO are frequent guests to BBC Radio 3’s In Tune.

Hannah Snyed

A selkie woman comes ashore to dance under moonlight and finds herself caught in the arms of a sailor. Captivated by love, she chooses to stay, surrendering her bond with the ocean for the promise of family life. But what does it really mean to stay? As the years pass, she is tethered to a growing child, weighed down by domestic routine, and slowly estranged from her own wild self. Where once she swam vast oceans, she now migrates between the washing machine, the oven, and the school gate - an unwitting tradwife. Torn between loyalty and longing, depression and quiet rage, our selkie must reckon with the cost of staying and the near-impossibility of leaving. Hilarious, heartfelt and darkly intimate, The Selkie Who Stayed reshapes the classic Selkie myth for the age of consent. The night will open with Tales of Freyja – a collection of stories of the fierce Norse Goddess.

Elizabeth Jane Baldry

Arts · Calstock

We are delighted to welcome the return of the highly accomplished local harpist Elizabeth-Jane Baldry, for what will be an enchanting concert. As a recitalist, she is well-known for her warm and approachable presentation style. The Bath Chronicle said of her: “It is hard to say just which was more pleasurable – the exquisite playing or the often deliciously outrageous stories of composers’ lives that Elizabeth Jane recounted in between the music.” She performs both nationally and internationally, giving around eighty performances a year from recitals in historic houses or specialist arts cruises to weddings and funerals. She has performed to sold-out audiences in the USA, Italy and France.
