Sunday 25 October 2026 · Doors 19:30

The Jam Factory, Hereford

About this event

Weirdshire presents Raymond MacDonald and Steve Malley is on Sunday 25 October 2026 at The Jam Factory, Hereford, with doors at 19:30. Tickets start at £11, including the booking fee.

NB: this show will be UPSTAIRS at the Jam Factory, so seating capacity is very limited. If the allocated seats sell out, there will be no tickets on the door. Both these artists have played fantastic Weirdshire shows before, but never as a duo together, so we're really excited to be able to bring you this one. Raymond MacDonald, one of the co-founders of the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra and internationally acclaimed saxophonist and improviser; and Steve Malley - the man of multiple guises - The Horse Loom, guitarist/singer with post everything power trio The Unit Ama, and multiple collaborator in the field of free improvisation. Or to put it another way: Bringing together two distinctive and deeply individual musical voices, Raymond MacDonald and Steve Malley (Horse Loom/Unit Ama) create performances that draw audiences into an intimate narrative celebrating folk lyricism, jazz expressionism and contemporary sound exploration. MacDonald's internationally acclaimed saxophone work, renowned for its emotional depth, spontaneity, and fearless creativity, meets Malley's richly textured guitar playing in a musical dialogue that is both warm and expansive. Malley weaves together alternat...

Weirdshire presents Rattle

The Jam Factory · Hereford

Rattle are a drum duo from Nottingham and we've been trying to find a date for them to come to Weirdshire for a while now. They play mesmeric, pulsing music which has been described by their record label (Upset the Rhythm) better than I can: "... all the physicality and drama of another world pulling together around its own shifting centre of gravity. The drum beats phase and sidestep, they trade accents and overlap, providing a suitably alive terrain for the vocals to explore similar tendencies of pattern." After the release of their debut album they opened for Animal Collective on their UK tour before heading out around Europe. And opening the evening, another band we have been trying for a while to arrange a date with - Herefordshire's Hurricane Tapes. Another force to be reckoned with - post-punk meets grunge, with elements of psychedelia. For fans of Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus and Mary Chain. Their debut ep was released in January of this year.
