O Rex Gentium: carols for the coming king

Farm Street Church · London

Chris joins us following 14 years with the Grammy Award-winning King’s Singers, during which he performed on the world’s great stages and worked with singers and musicians across the globe. He also has a longstanding musical relationship with Epiphoni, having coached the choir and worked with the emerging conductors on our training programme. We’re delighted to welcome him back – this time to conduct us in concert. At the heart of the programme is Bob Chilcott’s atmospheric Advent Antiphons, a setting of the ancient “O Antiphons” that look towards the coming of Christ at Christmas. Around them, we’ll sing much-loved carols, newer seasonal music and a few Christmas favourites – an evening designed to send you out into December feeling properly festive. The singing and merriment won’t be confined to the church! We’ll begin and end the evening next door at the Punch Bowl pub, with carols before and after the concert. The pub is holding tables for Epiphoni audience members who would like to eat beforehand; just call 020 7493 6841 and mention the concert when booking.
